In Case You Missed It: LinkedIn’s New Look!
LinkedIn is our favorite place for connecting B2B. It has slowly been updating its look and style to make the site more visually appealing and easier to use!
New on LinkedIn:
Continuous Updates: There is no need to refresh your front page to see what is going on. Like Twitter and Facebook, LinkedIn now lets you know when there is anything new with the handy “See 1 new update” link at the top of your feed. This is a great way to stay up-to-date without the hassle of continuously refreshing your page. It also tells you what is new, so you can react with haste if need be (ie. job opportunities on LinkedIn).
Visual LinkedIn Today Recommendations: The new LinkedIn “newsfeed” is much more visual, with large thumbnails and highlighted recommendations. When you log in to the LinkedIn dashboard, you’ll see news that LinkedIn Today thinks you’ll enjoy, but now with larger, more compelling photos. These recommendations are catered to your interests (which you can specify in the app’s settings). LinkedIn Today is a great way to stay up-to-date with the latest news in your industry. While many users will appreciate this feature, those who don’t can “hide” it from their newsfeed.
Navigation Bar: The navigation bar has a new color scheme that is a dark gray. From an aesthetics and usability standpoint, the contrast of the darker bar with the white drop down menu creates a visually pleasing and easy-to-navigate system.
Following a Company: This new feature was added earlier in the year but it is still worth noting. Just like with Twitter and Facebook, you can now “follow” companies.
Following a company will allow you to stay updated about its most recent activity. This is a great feature if you are looking for job openings or just hoping to stay connected with a particular company.
Also, if you missed it- personal Twitter updates are no longer being seen in the LinkedIn feed. In a further attempt to make LinkedIn’s interface cleaner and easier to use, this change decreases some of the “noise” in your newsfeed.
We’re a fan of the new LinkedIn – are you?
