By now you’ve probably realized that using social media and inbound marketing are very important to a successful company and website in today’s tech-advanced world. I don’t watch a lot of tennis. I know the major names and, frankly, probably know Andy Roddick’s name more for a cute face and the fact that he dated Mandy Moore many moons ago. After battling years of injuries and performances that have not taken him beyond the quarters of a major tournament since 2009, Andy Roddick announced that he would be retiring at age 30. His retirement is not that interesting, but the timing of his retirement is the ultimate newsjack and makes far more than the tennis community take notice. Newsjacking is all about timing. [...]

It’s safe to say that the majority of successful businesses have a website, if not multiple. Many of these businesses have also created blogs to accompany their websites. Not only does a blog offer potential leads and customers an in-depth look into your company, but it boosts your SEO, too. By creating unique, interesting content, you gain recognition and, in the long run, sales. To get started, follow this steps: Pick a topic This can be an overarching theme for your blog. Shock waves were felt throughout Charlottesville on Sunday, June 10th when Rector Helen Dragas sent a vague email informing Jefferson’s University that Teresa Sullivan would step down from her position as President of the University of Virginia. As a member of the University of Virginia community still living and working in Charlottesville, I felt the immediate punch packed by Dragas’ email. Outrage, confusion, and doubt pulsated throughout grounds. I quickly turned to where I get much of my information–my Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram accounts–to spread the word of the startling news surrounding U.Va. I get it. Writing, and especially writing a lot, can be a real chore for some most people. Even those of us who like to write and who write fairly easily can be quickly overwhelmed by the massive amounts of content that is now required to keep up a good blog. Unfortunately, when our inbound marketing agency tells potential clients, “Yes, you have to have a blog,” we are met with looks of disgust, moments of silence, and small whimpers. It doesn’t have to be this bad, and even if you are a terrible writer or have a company full [...]
